ANNAPOLIS, Md. - The Navy women's tennis team (20-7, 5-1 PL) earned its 100th win in program history with a 7-0 sweep of Loyola (7-5-1, 1-3 PL) on Sunday at the Fluegel-Moore Tennis Stadium at the Brigade Sports Complex. Navy also honored its two graduating seniors, Darien Sears and Erin Snook, on Sunday.
Head coach Keith Puryear has led Navy to an overall record of 100-29 in its fifth season of intercollegiate varsity play. Navy also reached the 20-win plateau for the fourth straight season.

"I thought it was a real solid match for us but it was also a little emotional with it being Senior Day for Darien and Erin," Puryear said. "Everything they have done for us has been done with class. Erin had a tough match against the young lady from Loyola, she had Erin down but Erin just showed a lot of grit and determination to come back and win it. Darien was also very thorough today and she played a very precise and solid match."

Navy opened up the afternoon by taking two of three doubles matches to win the doubles point. Snook and sophomore Katie Porter defeated Megan Hahn and Olivia Ott at No. 1 doubles, 8-5. Sears and sophomore Sam Droop also picked up an 8-5 win at No. 2 doubles over Katelyn Hissong and Ania Krawiec.

With her doubles win, Snook is now Navy's all-time program leader in career doubles wins with 60. She also set a program single season record with her 15th win at the No. 1 singles position.

Snook had to battle Hahn at No. 1 singles and ended up pulling out a 4-6, 6-2, 1-0 (10-8) win after a huge rally in the third-set tiebreaker.

Sears won in straight sets at No. 2 singles with a 6-2, 6-2 win over Krawiec and Droop won her eighth straight match by downing Ott at No. 3 singles, 6-3, 6-3. Droop now has a team-best 21 singles wins this season.

Sophomore Mikeala Carlson rallied to defeat Emily Hughes at No. 4 singles by a score of 4-6, 6-3, 1-0 (10-8).

Porter won in straight sets at No. 5 singles over Tiffany Ash, 7-5, 6-0 and freshman Audrey Channell was dominant at No. 6 singles over Alexandra Billups, 6-0, 6-0.

Navy will next compete at the Patriot League Tournament at Bucknell in the quarterfinal round on Friday. The Mids will learn their seed and quarterfinal opponent in the coming days. Navy has advanced to the last three Patriot League Tournament championship matches.
