STONY BROOK, N.Y. -- The Navy women's tennis team showed improvement from day one to day two, winning six singles matches. Gabby Winter will compete in the flight D finals, while two other players are still alive in the finals of the singles backdraws.
The finals in all the singles and doubles competitions will be played tomorrow, followed by the innovative 1-on-1 doubles, which is considered exhibition.
"We were definitely better today than we were yesterday. We got off to a rough start yesterday and it took us some time to get our feet under us," said Navy head coach Keith Puryear. "We were more in tune today and felt we made some progress. Our goal is to compete in each match and we showed signs of doing that today."
Freshman Gabby Winter (Orlando, Fla.) continued her impressive weekend with two more wins in the winners' bracket to reach the Flight D finals against Fordham's Julie Leong.
Action will conclude tomorrow, beginning at 9:00 am.
