NORFOLK, Va. -- Brittney Boucher and Natalie Houle advanced to the C Flight doubles quarterfinal round on day one to lead the Navy women's tennis team at the Old Dominion Collegiate Invitational, while freshmen Dye Das and Emani Decquir have reached the A Flight consolation semifinal round.

"There are a lot of good players and teams here, but I thought we held our own today. We had some pretty good moments," said Navy head coach Keith Puryear. "There is still obviously a lot to work on, but we are competing hard and getting better with every match. We are excited to play singles tomorrow and see what we can do."

The doubles team of Brittney Boucher and Natalie Houle led the Navy contingent with a 1-1 record, advancing to the quarterfinal round of Flight C. The duo won their first match over Morgan State's Viktoriya Lukyanenko and Pola Olczyk by an 8-4 margin. However, in the quarterfinals, the duo was stopped by Campbell's Anais Gomar and Bianca Saenz, 8-4.

Meanwhile, Das and Decquir accustomed themselves in the consolation round nicely. After falling to the Delaware pair of Ivana Petrich and Montserrat Ripoll, 9-8 (4), in the opening round, the pair won a match in the consolation round, defeating Hofstra's Paige Polizois and Zoe Taylor, 8-3. The Navy duo then received a bye into the consolation semifinals, where the match was not started due to darkness. The Delaware pair of Petrick and Ripoll would win the title in the A Flight.

Action will continue on Saturday with singles play, starting at 9:00 am.
