NORFOLK, Va. -- The Navy women's tennis team wrapped up a successful weekend by winning three individual titles at the Hampton Roads Collegiate Invitational on Sunday. The Mids won a total of six matches during Sunday's action.

The flights were split up into eight-person groups and each player competed in at least two matches in their respective bracket.

"I felt we had a pretty good weekend. We actually surpassed some goals we had set for ourselves, and having Emani, Haley and Kristy win flights and others making finals was a good step for us. These are good results," said Navy head coach Keith Puryear. "We still a lot of room for improvement, but I feel pretty good about the progress we are making. It was good competition, so it was good weekend for us."

In one Level 6 singles finals, Emani Decquir (Jr. / Sacramento, Calif.) won her bracket on Sunday with a 6-1, 6-2 victory over Loyola's Sabrina Fedele. Meanwhile, Gabby Winter (Fr. / Orlando, Fla.), who has now reached the finals in all three of her collegiate tournaments to date, fell in the finals to Washington & Lee's Christina Douglas, 6-3, 6-0.

In a Level 5 singles final, freshman Noelle Kaufmann (Westlake, Ohio) dropped a 6-3, 7-5 decision to Army's Carly Riney.

Navy dominated the Level 4 singles brackets, sending five players into their respective finals. Kristy Yau (Fr. / Dacula, Ga.) topped teammate Carrie Laskey (Fr. / Fort Thomas, Ky.), 6-1, 6-1 to earn the individual bracket title.

Haley Adams (So. / Woodstock, Ga.) defeated teammate Caitlin Olsen (So. / Los Gatos, Calif.), 6-2, 6-3 for her first individual title.

Julia Zook (So. / Seattle, Wash.) fell to Villanova's Allie Harding, 6-1, 6-0 in the final of her bracket.

Navy will return to action next weekend when it hosts the Navy Blue & Gold Invitational on Saturday and Sunday beginning at 9:00 am at the Brigade Sports Complex.

"We are already looking forward to next weekend. It's going to be a good challenge for us and a good opportunity to get an idea of where we are as we close out the fall," said Puryear.
