BLACKSBURG, Va. -- The Navy women's tennis team's fall season came to an end last night at the ITA / USTA Atlantic Region Championship, held on the campus of Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, Va. The Midshipmen won a total of 10 matches during the event.

Action got underway last Friday with the qualifying singles round, where two Midshipmen competed for the right to advance to the 64-person main draw. Erin Snook (Jr. / Tampa, Fla.) won her first match over Liberty's Rebekah Jenkins, but missed out on a chance to reach the main draw as Penn State's Jacqueline Zuhse defeated Snook in the next round. A win over Zuhse would have put Snook into the main draw. Sophomore Gabby Winter (Orlando, Fla.) also competed, falling in her first match to Virginia Tech's Kelly Williford.

Junior Emani Decquir (Sacramento, Calif.) was the lone Midshipmen in the main draw, falling to Marshall's Maria Voscekova in the round of 64, 6-1, 6-0. Decquir finished her fall season with an 8-7 record.

In the main draw of double play, Navy's lone win came from Snook and Noelle Kaufmann (So. / Westlake, Ohio) in the round of 64 with an 8-5 win over Gutierrez and Lhorca of Norfolk State. The duo would drop its next match to a Virginia Tech pair, and finished the fall season with a 5-6 doubles record.

Navy had its most success in the consolation bracket as five different players all won matches, highlighted by a pair of wins by Snook, Kaufmann and Logan Antill (Fr. / Butler, Pa.). Antill's two wins moved her record to 12-5 overall, the most wins for a player during the fall season in school history.

Winter and Stefanie Ton (Sr. / Milpitas, Calif.) also won matches in the consolation bracket. Winter's victory was her 10th of the fall season, joining Kaufmann with double-digit wins.

The tournament concluded the fall season for Navy. It's dual-meet season begins Jan. 19 against Saint Francis (Pa.) in Annapolis, beginning at 9:00 AM.
