ANNAPOLIS, Md. -
The Navy women's tennis team (8-2) will host a pair of Virginia colleges on Sunday at the Tose Family Tennis Center in the Brigade Sports Complex. Navy will begin the day by facing Radford (1-2) at 10:00 AM before taking on Richmond (2-1) at 3:00 PM.
This will be the first-ever meeting between Navy and Radford.
Navy is 1-0 all-time against Richmond as the Mids defeated the Spiders, 6-1, on February 16, 2013.
Navy split a pair of matches last weekend, defeating Longwood, 5-2, before falling to James Madison, 4-3. The loss to James Madison was just the second setback of the season for the Mids, who were on a seven-match winning streak. The loss to James Madison also snapped Navy's program-record 23-match home winning streak.
Senior Erin Snook has been playing at the No. 1 singles position for Navy. Snook is Navy's all-time leader in singles wins (79) and combined wins (127). Snook is 4-2 at in dual matches this spring.
Sophomore Sam Droop leads Navy in dual singles wins this spring with her 5-1 record. Droop has played at both No. 2 and No. 3 singles and has won four straight matches.
Two Navy plebes are sporting impressive overall records this year. Audrey Channell is 7-4 overall and 3-1 in dual play, while Rozel Hernandez is 8-3 overall and 3-0 in duals.
Navy has dominated singles play this spring with an overall 40-20 dual record. However, Navy is just 13-13 in doubles matches.
Navy will continue its current home stand with two matches next weekend. Navy will host Seton Hall on Friday and No. 53 DePaul on Saturday.
