Women's Tennis to Host Villanova and Howard on Saturday
ANNAPOLIS, Md. - The Navy women’s tennis team (5-7, 0-1 PL) will host Villanova (0-2) and Howard (0-1) on Saturday at the Tose Family Tennis Center in the Brigade Sports Complex. Navy will host Villanova at 10:00 AM and Howard at 2:00 PM. Admission is free for all Navy women’s tennis matches.
Navy dropped a pair of matches last week, falling to George Washington, 5-2, and Delaware, 5-2.
Freshmen Kaylah Hodge and Meghan O’Malley earned singles wins in Navy’s match against George Washington, while freshman Emily Louie-Meadors won a singles match against Delaware. Navy also won all three doubles matches against Delaware last weekend.
Junior Amanda Keller, Navy’s No. 1 singles player, is one win away from reaching the 100-career win milestone. Keller has a career singles record of 61-36 and a career doubles record of 38-23. Keller is one win away from becoming the sixth player in program history to reach 100 career combined wins.
Navy has competed in 12 dual matches this season and three Mids, Louie-Meadors, Josie Rogers and Ansofi Wreder, have picked up four dual singles wins. Wreder leads Navy in overall singles wins with her 17-7 record this season.
Navy leads the all-time series against Villanova, 5-0. Navy posted 6-1 wins over Villanova in each of the last three seasons.
Navy leads the all-time series against Howard, 3-2. Navy posted a 6-1 win over Howard in the last meeting in the series in 2015.
Following this Saturday’s doubleheader, Navy will next host Seton Hall and Morgan State on Sunday, February 26.
