Women's Tennis to Host Seton Hall and DePaul This Weekend

ANNAPOLIS, Md. - The Navy women's tennis team (10-2) will have a challenging weekend as it hosts a pair of Big East programs in Seton Hall and DePaul at the Tose Family Tennis Center in the Brigade Sports Complex this weekend.
Navy will host Seton Hall (3-1) on Friday at 3:00 PM and No. 45 DePaul (9-1) on Saturday at 2:00 PM. Seton Hall and DePaul will face each other on Saturday at 9:00 AM.
Navy is 3-1 all-time against Seton Hall and has won each of the last three matches by scores of 4-3. Sophomore Katie Porter clinched the 4-3 win last year with a 3-6, 6-4, 6-3 win at No. 5 singles.
Navy is 0-1 all-time against DePaul, having lost to the No. 34 Blue Demons, 6-1, in 2011. Navy's match against DePaul, currently 45th in the ITA Rankings, will be its second against a top-50 team this season. Navy lost at No. 49 Penn State, 7-0, on January 19.
DePaul's Zaina Sufi, Patricia Fargas and Kelsey Lawson have each been named the Big East Women's Tennis Player of the Week this spring and the doubles team of Ana Vladutu and Jasmin Kling are ranked 42nd nationally. DePaul has won eight straight matches, including a 4-0 win over then-No. 25 TCU.
Navy won a pair of matches last weekend by defeated Radford, 5-2, and Richmond, 4-3. Navy has won nine of its last 10 matches this spring.
Senior Erin Snook clinched the win over Richmond with a 6-4, 3-6, 7-5 win at No. 1 singles for the 80th singles win over her career. Snook's is Navy's all-time leader in singles wins and classmate Darien Sears, who won in straight sets at No. 2 singles against Richmond, is second in program history with 71 career singles wins.
Freshman Rozel Hernandez and sophomore Cassandra Fisbeck won singles matches in Navy's victory over Radford on Sunday. Hernandez is now 4-0 in duals and 9-3 overall while Fisbeck is 4-1 in duals and has won four in a row.
Snook is 5-2 in duals this spring while sophomore Sam Droop, playing at No. 2 and No. 3, has a team-best six wins and a 6-1 mark. Droop has won five straight singles matches.
Navy will next host Towson on Sunday, March 2 at 11:00 AM.
Schedule Note: Navy has officially added four spring break matches to its 2014 dual schedule. Navy will head to Florida to play Coastal Carolina on Tuesday, March 11 at 8:00 AM at the Star Island Resort in Orlando. Later that night, Navy will face St. Cloud State at the Winter Park Tennis Center at Azalea Lane, also in Orlando, at 6:00 PM. The Mids will then play Quinnipiac (9:00 AM) and Robert Morris (12:30 PM) on Wednesday, March 12 in Haines City, Fla. at the Lake Eva Tennis Center.
