ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- Owning the second-longest winning streak in school history at 10 matches, the Navy women's tennis team looks to keep its momentum going on Saturday when Howard comes to visit the Tose Family Tennis Center at the Brigade Sports Complex. Action begins at 12:00 PM.
The Midshipmen own a 12-3 record, while Howard's record is not available. The Midshipmen are 1-1 all-time against the Bison.
After starting the season 2-3, the Midshipmen have won 10 matches in a row. A win on Saturday would tie the school-record 11-match winning streak set at the start of the 2012 season.
"This will be a very tough match for us. Howard is, and always has been, a very strong program," said Navy head coach Keith Puryear. "We just need to go out and play the way we are capable of and be focused in every match."
Navy is coming off a pair of grueling 4-3 victories last Sunday over Drexel and Seton Hall. Both matches took over four hours and the Mids didn't complete the victories until almost 10:30 PM after starting the two duals around 1:00 PM. Three of Navy's last four wins have come by 4-3 scores.
During the dual-meet season, Darien Sears (Jr. / Silver Spring, Md.) leads the Midshipmen with seven dual-meet victories, while Logan Antill (Fr. / Butler, Pa.), Sam Droop (Fr. / Hilton Head Island, S.C.), Katie Porter (Fr. / Matthews, N.C.), Erin Snook (Jr. / Tampa, Fla.) and Stefanie Ton (Sr. / Milpitas, Calif.) all have recorded six dual-meet wins.
Antil paces the Midshipmen overall with 18 victories, good for seventh on the single-season wins list at Navy. Snook, the school-record holder in career victories (62), is second on the squad with 15 wins and owns a sterling 45-11 career dual-meet mark. Decquir and Droop have 13 wins apiece this year.
Decquir (108), Ton (103) and Snook (102) all have gone over the 100-career combined victory plateau this spring.
Navy will close out its long homestand on Wednesday, March 6, when it hosts Delaware at 2:00 PM.
