Women's Tennis to Host Three Dual Matches this Weekend

ANNAPOLIS, Md. - The Navy women’s tennis team (9-4, 0-1 PL) will host three matches at the Tose Family Tennis Center at the Brigade Sports Complex this weekend. Navy will first host Delaware (3-3) on Saturday at 10:30 AM and then Morgan State (1-5) on Saturday at 2:30 PM. Navy will close the weekend by hosting Richmond (1-4) on Sunday at 1:00 PM. Admission is free for all Navy women’s tennis matches.

Navy enters the weekend on a five-match winning streak. Since Feb. 11, Navy has posted victories over Villanova (5-2), Towson (7-0), Johns Hopkins (7-0), George Mason (6-1) and Howard (7-0).

Senior captain Amanda Keller became Navy’s all-time doubles wins leader in the win over George Mason last Sunday. Keller is now 62-29 all-time in doubles matches.

Keller and doubles partner Kaylah Hodge are 15-4 in doubles matches this year. Senior Claudia Mackenzie and sophomore Emily Louie-Meadors have also been successful in doubles matches and have a 13-3 record.

Senior Carlee Conway and freshman Amanda Cyr share the team lead in singles wins with 14 apiece. Conway is 14-6 and Cyr is 14-2. Cyr is also 6-0 in singles play in dual matches this spring.

Keller is 13-10 in singles matches and Louie-Meadors is 13-6. Sophomore Aimee Dervishian also has double-digit singles wins with her 11-2 mark.

Delaware enters the weekend on a three-match winning streak. The Blue Hens are coming off wins over Saint Joseph’s (7-0), Lehigh (6-1), and Morgan State (6-1). Navy is 5-2 all-time against Delaware, but the Blue Hens posted a 5-2 win over the Mids last season.



Navy and Morgan State will meet for the seventh time in series history on Saturday and Navy has won all of the previous six meetings. Navy defeated Morgan State in a tight 4-3 match last season.

Richmond holds a 3-2 lead in the all-time series with Navy and the Spiders have won three-straight matches against the Mids. Richmond pulled out a close 4-3 win over the Mids last season.

The Spiders will play at George Washington on Friday before taking on the Mids on Sunday. Following its three matches this weekend, Navy will next host Marshall on Saturday, March 10 at 10:00 AM.
