Navy Women's Tennis to Host Delaware Tuesday Afternoon

ANNAPOLIS, Md. - The Navy women's tennis team (12-3) will host Delaware (2-2) on Tuesday at 2:30 PM at the Tose Family Tennis Center in the Brigade Sports Complex. The Delaware contest will be Navy's lone match of the week.
Navy defeated Towson, 6-1, on Sunday and has won four of its last five matches. Senior Darien Sears and sophomore Sam Droop clinched the doubles point at No. 3 against Towson and then Sears (No. 2) and Droop (No. 3) won singles matches. Senior Erin Snook clinched the team win with a straight-set win at No. 1 singles.
Including the fall tournament schedule, Navy has four players who have won double-digit singles matches this year. Sears is 13-7, Droop is 12-9, sophomore Katie Porter is 11-7 and Snook is 10-8.
Delaware is coming off a 4-3 loss to Saint Joseph's on Saturday. The Mids defeated Saint Joseph's, 4-3, on January 25.
Delaware was 12-6 last season and advanced to the CAA Semifinals.
Navy is 2-1 all-time in matches against Delaware. The Blue Hens defeated the Mids in the inaugural meeting in 2011, 5-2, but Navy won in 2012 (4-3) and in 2013 (5-2).
Navy will embark on a spring break trip to the Orlando, Florida area early next week. Navy will play Coastal Carolina and St. Cloud State on Tuesday and then Quinnipiac and Robert Morris on Wednesday.
