Seniors Darien Sears and Erin Snook will be honored on Senior Day when the Navy women's tennis team (19-7, 4-1 PL) hosts Loyola (6-4-1, 1-2 PL) on Sunday at 11:00 AM at the Fluegel-Moore Tennis Stadium at the Brigade Sports Complex. The Loyola match will be Navy's regular season finale and the Mids will open play at the Patriot League Tournament in Bucknell on Friday.
Sears is Navy's team captain and is a two-time All-Patriot League honoree. She has a career singles record of 77-47 and a career doubles record of 56-43. This season, she is 17-11 overall in singles and 9-7 at the No. 2 position.
Snook is also a two-time All-Patriot League honoree. Snook has a career singles record of 89-27 and a career doubles record of 59-63. Snook has an overall record of 18-9 in singles this season and she is 14-5 at the No. 1 position.
Snook ranks first in school history in career singles wins (89), while Sears is second (77). Additionally, Snook is tied for first in career doubles wins (59) and Sears ranks third (56). Snook is first in career combined wins (148) and Sears is second (133).
Sears and Snook have helped Navy to an 86-25 (.775) record over the last four years and the Mids have advanced to the finals of the Patriot League Tournament in each of their first three seasons at Navy.
Navy is coming off a 6-1 win over Lehigh on Thursday and the Mids have won five of their last six matches. Navy enters Sunday with a 4-1 mark in Patriot League play and is seeking one last conference win to further solidify its seeding resume for the Patriot League Tournament.
Navy and Loyola will be meeting for the fourth time in series history and for the first time as Patriot League opponents on Sunday. Navy holds a 3-0 lead in the all-time series against the Greyhounds and won the 2013 meeting by a 7-0 score.
Loyola is coming off a 7-0 win over Mount St. Mary's on Wednesday and will face George Mason on Friday evening before playing at Navy. Loyola is 1-2 in the Patriot League, having defeated Lafayette (7-0), but losing to Army (7-0) and Bucknell (5-2).
Navy would earn its 100th win in program history if it defeats Loyola on Sunday. Navy has an overall record of 99-29 and is in its fifth season of playing at the varsity level.
The Patriot League Tournament will be hosted by Bucknell next week from Thursday to Sunday. The lone match on Thursday will be the play-in contest between the No. 8 and No. 9 seeds and then four quarterfinal matches will be played on Friday. The semifinals will be played on Saturday and the championship match will be contested on Sunday at 12 noon. The Patriot League Champion will receive an automatic berth to the NCAA Tournament.
