Mids Head to West Point in Search of First League Title

ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- The Navy women's tennis team heads to West Point, N.Y., this weekend in search of its first Patriot League Championship and NCAA Tournament berth as it opens play Friday at noon against seventh-seeded Lafayette in the quarterfinal round.
The Midshipmen earned the second seed after posting a 4-1 league record and a 23-4 overall mark. Army will be the tournament's top seed with a 6-0 league mark and a 20-6 overall record. The Black Knights are the only Patriot League squad to defeat Navy in the last three years, owning a 3-0 record against the Midshipmen. Navy is 14-0 during the same span against all other league opponents.
Third-seeded Bucknell will face sixth-seeded Holy Cross and fourth-seeded Colgate takes on fifth-seeded Lehigh in Friday's other quarterfinals. Should Navy advance past Lafayette, Navy will take on the winner of Bucknell and Holy Cross on Saturday at 2:00 PM. The other semifinal will pit Army against the winner of Colgate and Lehigh. The two semifinal winners will meet in the finals on Sunday at 1:00 PM.
Navy has won 21 of its last 22 matches and boasts a lineup that has four players with at least 20 singles victories.
Navy is 4-3 all-time in the Patriot League Tournament having lost in the finals in each of the last two years while bowing out in the semifinals in the 2010 season.
In doubles play, Navy's No. 1 position will likely be held by sophomore Noelle Kaufmann (Westlake, Ohio) and junior Erin Snook (Tampa, Fla.). The duo owns a 7-9 record this year, all coming in dual-meet action, including a 2-3 mark against Patriot League opposition.

A 2012 second-team all-Patriot League honoree, Snook leads the team with 23 wins this year, tied for the fourth most in a season in school history ... career leader in singles wins (70) and owns a remarkable 51-12 (.810) dual-meet record ... has 115 combined career victories, the second most all time at Navy (70 singles, 45 doubles) ... has had seasons of 24 (freshman), 23 (sophomore) and 23 (junior) win totals ... has the best winning percentage in school history of anyone with at least 20 wins (.714) ... has won eight matches in a row and 12 of her last 13.

Missed the fall season, but has picked it up in the spring, owning a stellar 15-3 record ... her .833 (15-3) winning percentage is the best winning percentage in school history (min. 10 wins) ... is 5-0 in doubles play, giving Porter a 20-3 combined record ... has won eight of her last nine matches with all of the wins coming in straight sets.
