July 2, 2014
ANNAPOLIS, Md. - Navy head women's tennis coach Keith Puryear has announced the four student-athletes that will comprise his program's incoming Class of 2018. The four student-athletes have gone through induction ceremonies and began plebe summer.
The recruiting website TennisRecruiting.net has ranked Navy's incoming recruiting class as the 20th-best among NCAA Division I Mid-Major programs. This is the fourth time that Puryear has had a recruiting class ranked by TennisRecruiting.net.
"We are very proud to have a class of student-athletes who are so highly thought of by others around the country," Puryear said. "This class is a testament to the hard work of the coaching staff, but more importantly the student-athletes and their families who together worked tirelessly to achieve their successes in junior tennis ranks. Coach Pedergnana and I look forward to working with them during their collegiate careers. With continued hard work and dedication, I am sure their success will carry over to the collegiate game as well."
Navy has three four-star recruits in Amanda Keller (Jacksonville, Fla. / Creekside), Claudia Mackenzie (Surfside, Fla. / Ransom Everglades) and Kristine Rojo (Audubon, Pa. / Baldwin), while Jamie Rogers (Cary, N.C. / Cary) is a three-star recruit, according to TennisRecruiting.net.
Navy (21-8, 5-1 Patriot League) advanced to the Patriot League Semifinals for the fifth straight season in 2013-14 and the team reached the 20-win plateau for the fourth straight year.
