ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- The Navy women's tennis team begins its fall schedule this weekend as it heads to the Stony Brook Invitational beginning on Friday and running through Sunday. Head coach Keith Puryear will take 11 players this weekend, including four freshmen appearing in their first collegiate action.

Navy is coming off a outstanding 2011-12 season in which it went 20-3 overall and reached the finals of the Patriot League Tournament for the second straight season. Every member of last year's team is back this year and Puryear welcomed in an outstanding group of freshmen.

Leading Navy this year will be a pair of seniors in Emani Decquir (Sacramento, Calif.) and Stefanie Ton (Milpitas, Calif.). The duo has combined for 90 career singles victories (Decquir - 46; Ton - 44) while ranking second and third on the career singles victories list. Decquir is a three-time first-team all-Patriot League honoree while Ton has been named to the second team twice.

Juniors Erin Snook (Tampa, Fla.) and Darien Sears (Silver Spring, Md.) also return after sensational sophomore campaigns. Snook earned second-team all-Patriot League accolades a year ago after recording a 23-6 overall record that featured a 19-2 dual-meet mark. She is the school-record holder in career singles victories with 47 and through just two seasons, has 80 career combined victories.

Sears went 16-16 a year ago while playing No. 1 singles, en route to first-team all-Patriot League honors. She ranks fourth on the career singles victories list with 40.

Sophomores Gabby Winter (Orlando, Fla.) and Noelle Kaufmann (Westlake, Ohio) are also back after succeeding at Nos. 5 and 6, respectively, last year as freshmen. Winter tied the school record for singles wins in a season with 24, while Kaufmann set a school record by winning 13 straight matches from Feb. 5 to April 11. She ended with an 18-6 overall record, including a 13-1 record in dual-meet action.

A slew of freshmen will also contribute to Navy's success as Logan Antill (Butler, Pa.), Mikaela Carlson (Carmel, Ind.), Sam Droop (Hilton Head Island, S.C.) and Tracy Thorsell (Martinsville, Ind.) will all travel this weekend with the team.

Navy will host the Bill & Sandra Moore Invitational next weekend in Annapolis, beginning on Friday at the Brigade Sports Complex.
