WEST POINT, N.Y. - The Navy women's track and field team (13-0) defeated Army, 97-84, to win an eighth-straight Indoor N-Star on Sunday at Gillis Field House. Navy won eight events and went 1-2 in the long jump, triple jump, shot put and weight throw.

"Everyone pulled together and did what they had to do for us to get the N-Star," head coach Carla Criste said. "We had a number of good first-place showings, but it was the second and third-place finishes that provided the difference in the meet."

Navy has won eight-straight Indoor N-Stars (2006-13) and extends its indoor series lead to 14-12-1. Navy has swept the indoor/outdoor series in women's track and field in each of the last four seasons and will have the opportunity for a fifth-straight sweep when the teams meet again during the outdoor season in Annapolis on April 6.

Junior Teronda Brown won the shot put with a personal-best mark of 46-6¾ (14.19m). Brown's mark is well over the ECAC standard and is the second-best indoor mark in school history. Brown ranks No. 1 on the Patriot League performance list this season. Junior Lauren Allam took second place at 42-0¾ (12.82m).

Junior Maressa Guynn and Brown went 1-2 in the weight throw as the Navy throwers dominated Army on Sunday. Guynn posted a mark of 51-8½ (15.76m) to win the event and Brown's second-place mark was 49-1¾ (14.98m).

Senior Melanie Sluzewicz and sophomore Sarah Barnum each won a horizontal jumping event as the Mids swept the top two spots in the long and triple jumps. Sluzewicz won the long jump at 17-1¼ (5.21m) and Barnum was second at 16-10¾ (5.15m). Barnum won the triple jump at 36-1¼ (11.00m) and freshman Crystan McLymore was second at 35-9¼ (10.90m).

Senior Kristin Smith won the high jump at the Army-Navy Indoor Star Meet for the fourth straight season, clearing 5-7 (1.70m), an ECAC-qualifying height.

Senior Arabia Littlejohn won the 400m dash at 58.88 and freshman Ashley Welker won the 800m run with a personal-best time of 2:15.17. Senior Jessica Ridgway won the 60m dash at 7.73 and was second in the 200m dash at 25.91.

Senior Brigid Byrne was second in the 3,000m run at 10:23.52 and sophomore Madeline Zell was second in the 1,000m at 3:00.90. Freshman Frankie Gale took second place in the 60m hurdles at 9.55 and senior Natasha Druggan was second in the 500m (1:17.27).

Navy will host the Multi Madness meet on Thursday at 4:00 PM at the Wesley Brown Field House.
