LEWISBURG, Pa. - The Navy women's indoor track and field team (21-1) concluded the 2012 Patriot League Indoor Championship with a second-place team showing at Bucknell's Gerhard Fieldhouse on Sunday. Navy amassed 124 team points to finish as the runners-up to first-place Bucknell (164). Navy, the 2011 indoor team champions, has now placed first or second in each of the past four indoor league championships.

"We were really proud of the way our team pulled together this weekend and everyone stepped up and did their best," head coach Carla Criste said. "It didn't go quite how we wanted in terms of bringing the team trophy back, but Bucknell is a good team with a lot of depth. We had a lot of very good individual performances though and Arabia Littlejohn was one of our highlights today in winning the 400 and running a great 55 split on the anchor of the 4x400 relay."

Littlejohn, a junior, won the 400m dash title for the second straight year. Littlejohn crossed first with a time of 57.96 and senior Colleen McFadden also scored one point with a sixth-place finish of 59.54. Due to Bucknell's track specifications, Littlejohn's time will be converted for performance list rankings to a 57.26, which is her personal record.

Navy grabbed 12 points in the 500m run with senior captain Mansfield Murph leading the way with a runner-up finish, earning second-team all-league honors. Murph ran a 1:15.03 (ECAC) and junior Natasha Druggan earned four points with a fourth-place finish of 1:16.30.

Sophomore Teronda Brown used a PR to place second in the shot put, earning all-league second team honors. Brown made a mark of 46-2 (14.07m, ECAC) on her final throw to grab eight points. Senior Amanda Phelps placed third in the event with a PR distance of 44-7½ (13.60m, ECAC) to earn six points herself and 14 in the event. Phelps won the weight throw title on Saturday.

Sophomore Veronica Ffrench continued her impressive weekend at her first career indoor league meet by placing third in the 60m dash with a PR of 7.79. Ffrench earned six team points in the 60m and junior Jessica Ridgway added two more in the event with a fifth-place finish of 7.90.

Ffrench also scored in the 200m dash, placing sixth with a time of 25.82. Ffrench also won the high jump on Saturday. Including the six points she helped Navy earn in the 4x400m relay (3rd place) Ffrench contributed an impressive 23 points. Senior Ashley Aitken placed third in the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.86, earning six team points.

Junior Jordan Kronshage matched her PR of 11-3¾ (3.45m) to tie for third place in the pole vault, garnering five team points.

A day after winning the 5,000m run, junior Brigid Byrne ran a PR of 9:55.04 to score and place fifth in the 3000m run. Byrne collected 12 individual points in the two distance events over the weekend.

Freshman Annie-Norah Beveridge scored in the 1,000m, placing fifth with a time of2:57.78, a new personal record. Beveridge ran in the unseeded heat of the 1,000m but still was able to score. Freshman Shannon Cuthbert ran a 2:18.08 in the 800m run, but missed scoring by just one spot, placing seventh.

Freshman Maria Arnone teamed up with McFadden, Cuthbert and Beveridge to place sixth in the distance medley relay with a time of 12:21.30.

In the final event of the day, Navy's 4x400m relay team of Ffrench, Druggan, Murph and Littlejohn placed third with a time of 3:55.15. Littlejohn ran a 55 second split on the anchor leg, taking the baton behind, but moving Navy up several spots to place third.

Senior Jess Palacio, a three-time Patriot League Track-Athlete of the Meet and one of the best middle distance runners in the history of the Patriot League, suffered an injury in Saturday's 4x800m relay and was unable to compete on Sunday.
