Women's Track Places Fourth At Patriot League Indoor Championship

LEWISBURG, Pa. – The Navy women’s track & field team placed fourth with 99 points at the 2014 Patriot League Indoor Championship on Sunday at Gerhard Field House. Senior Teronda Brown (Angleton, Texas) captured the individual title in the shot put.
Boston University won the team title with 210 points, while Lehigh was second with 130 and Bucknell was third at 99.50.
Senior Teronda Brown earned all-league first-team honors by placing finishing first in the shot put with a mark of 46ft-6.25in (ECAC). Brown also finished third in the weight throw with an ECAC-qualifying mark of 54ft-4.75in. Brown tallied 14 points in the two events for Navy.
“Teronda [Brown] had a great meet in both the shot put and weight throw,” said head coach Carla Criste. “Overall, we were proud of our athletes and how they performed.”
Freshman Hali McFadgen finished second in the 60m hurdles to garner all-league second team honors with a finishing time of 8.82. Lauren Allam and Crystan McLymore also received all-league second team laurels, finishing second in the shot put (43-2.25in) and triple jump (37ft-5in), respectively.
The 4x400m relay team of Bernhardt, Ashley Welker, Zell and KellyMaw placed sixth at 4:03.34. Navy's distance medley relay team of Meghan Harvey, Maddy Manhertz, Shannon Cuthbert and Katie Jan placed sixth at 12:24.17.
Navy will next send its qualified athletes to the ECAC Indoor Championship in Boston from March 7-9.
