Final Stats

ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- Jacqui Charnigo (So., Medina, Ohio) and Michelle Schiller (Sr., Glendale, Ariz.) both recorded a pair of victories and Kirsten Andrews (Jr., New Holland, Pa.) tied the school record in the 100-meter hurdles in helping lead the Navy women's track and field team to victories over four teams Saturday afternoon at Ingram Field in Annapolis. The Mids, competing in their lone home outdoor meet of the season, totaled 258 points during the meet to comfortably outdistance second-place Maine's score of 132 points.

Maryland placed third at the meet with 93 points, followed by Colgate in fourth with 46 points and American in fifth with 29 points.

"I was very impressed with the depth of our team today," said Navy head coach Carla Criste. "There were a lot of great performances throughout the meet by our team.

"We also had a ton of parents and other family members here today and I think they really helped inspire our athletes to perform at a high level."

Charnigo won the high jump with a leap of 5-1 (1.55 meters) and the pole vault with a mark of 11-11 3/4 (3.65m), while Schiller jumped 17-7 (5.36m) to win the long jump and 37-0 1/2 (11.29m) to win the triple jump.

Charnigo's pole vault tied her career-best mark from last weekend, while Schiller's long jump was a season-best effort.

Andrews posted a time of 14.24 in winning the 100-meter hurdles and tie the school standard set by Joanna Helm six years ago. She also set a new career-best outdoor mark in placing second to Charnigo in the pole vault with a leap of 11-11 3/4 (3.65m).

In addition, Navy athletes also claimed five other individual event titles on the day. Danielle Still (Jr., Lawnsdale, N.J.) won the javelin with a toss of 141-7 (43.16m), Erin Demchko (Jr., Nanuet, N.Y.) won the 1500-meter run in a time of 4:45.28, Priscilla Lewis (Jr., St. Andrews, Jamaica) won the 100-meter dash in a time of 12.71, Michelle Bostic (So., Rockwell, Texas) won the 400-meter hurdles in a time of 1:03.12 and Katherine Wirtz (Fr., Duxbury, Mass.) took the 10,000-meter run with a time of 39:02.86.

Navy also won the 4x100-meter relay in a time of 48.72.

The Mids will continue their outdoor season April 1 when Navy faces Charlotte, North Carolina and North Carolina State in a meet at Charlotte.
