Navy Women's Track Wins Six Events at the Towson Invitational

TOWSON, Md. - The Navy women's outdoor track and field team won six events and posted three ECAC-qualifying marks at the Towson Invitational at Johnny Unitas Stadium on Saturday. Navy competed against Towson, Delaware, Loyola, West Chester and Cheyney at the non-scored meet.
"The meet went pretty well," said head coach Carla Criste. "The throwers looked very good in the hammer throw and discus and Kristen [Smith] and Veronica [Ffrench] looked good in the high jump. We should have a competitive meet with Army next week and we are hoping everyone peaks at the right time."
Senior Brigid Byrne won the 5,000m run with an ECAC-qualifying time of 17:04.21. The time was Byrne's outdoor personal best and the fourth-best outdoor 5K time in school history. Byrne won the race by over a minute.
Guynn also won the hammer throw with a mark of 158-3 (48.23m) and junior Teronda Brown was fifth (139-7, 42.55m). Allam took third in the shot put (40-10½, 12.46m) and Guynn was fifth (40-9½, 12.43m).
Sophomore Annie-Norah Beveridge placed second in the 1,500m run with a time of 4:44.68. Freshman Amanda Mulkey was third at 4:44.83, freshman Kelley Robinson was fourth (4:45.58) and freshman Meghan Harvey was sixth (4:50.02).
Freshman Crystan McLymore placed second in the triple jump with a mark of 36-5 (11.10m) and sophomore Sarah Barnum was third at 35-3¾ (10.76m). Barnum also placed fifth in the long jump at 17-1¼ (5.21m).
Navy will host Army in the Star Meet next Saturday at 2:15 PM at Ingram Field.
