The Navy women's track and field program posted eight top-10 performances at the George Mason Invitational on Saturday. Navy competed against West Virginia, Boston University, Towson, Penn, William & Mary, Georgetown and a number of other schools at the non-team scored meet.
Junior Maressa Guynn had a standout day at the George Mason Invitational by posting a pair of third-place finishes and one ECAC-qualifying performance in the throwing events. Guynn took third in the discus with an ECAC-qualifying performance of 147-8 (45.01m) and was third in the hammer throw with a mark of 157-11 (48.13m).
Junior Alix Membreno finished in eighth place in the javelin with a throw of 125-11 (38.38m). Junior Lauren Allam placed ninth in the shot put with a mark of 42-0½ (12.81m) and was 11th in the discus at 131-3¾ (40.02m).
Senior Kristin Smith took fourth in the high jump with a clear of 5-5¼ (1.66m) and junior Veronica Ffrench placed seventh, also clearing 5-5¼ (1.66m).
Freshman Crystan McLymore placed in a tie for sixth in the triple jump with a mark of 37-2¼ (11.33m). Sophomore Sarah Barnum was 14th in the triple jump at 35-10¾ (10.94m) and was 15th in the long jump at 17-3¼ (5.26m).
Junior Eli Rubin matched her best pole vault clear of the season at 10-10 (3.30m) to tie for 18th place.
Senior Jessica Ridgway placed 12th in the prelims of the 100m dash at 12.45.
Navy's 4x100m relay team of senior Stephanie Payne, Ffrench, Smith and Ridgway placed ninth at 48.57.
Navy is scheduled for two competitions next week. The Mids will compete at the McDaniel Twilight Invitational on Wednesday and the Mt. SAC Relay's later in the week.
