BETHLEHAM, Pa. - The Navy women's track and field team won five individual events and placed second as a team with 141 points at the 2013 Patriot League Outdoor Championship at Lehigh's Goodman Campus. The Navy women's track and field team has placed first or second in each of the past 10 Patriot League Indoor and Outdoor Championships.

"We had some great performances and the girls really came on strong at the end of the meet today," head coach Carla Criste said. "Brigid [Byrne] was great in doubling in the 10K and the 5K and Maressa [Guynn] also did a great job in winning the discus and breaking the meet record. The throwers did amazing this weekend. Now we are looking forward to the ECAC meet where we will have a very strong field event crew."

Junior Maressa Guynn won the discus with a new Navy school record and Patriot League Championship meet record of 170-6 (51.97m). Guynn was named the Patriot League Championship Field-Athlete of the Meet as she also placed fourth in the shot put and was fifth in the hammer on Friday.

Guynn is now 12th on the NCAA's East Region performance list in the discus after breaking Allam's 2011 school record of 165-7 (50.49m). Allam also held the previous championship meet record. Allam's mark on Saturday was the fourth-best in school history while Brown's was the fifth-best.
