BETHLEHEM, Pa. -- The Navy women's track and field team finished the 2017 Patriot League Outdoor Meet in fifth place on Saturday at Goodman Track and Field Complex in Bethlehem, Pa.

Bucknell women earned its third-straight Patriot League Outdoor Track & Field title. The Boston University women's team cut into Bucknell's large lead after day one to finish second overall with 171.5. Host Lehigh finished third with 166, while Army West Point finished fourth with 125 points and Navy finished fifth with 85.5 points. Holy Cross (70.5), Loyola Maryland (21) and Lafayette (17) rounded out the field.

"The coaching staff was extremely proud of the way that the team performed this weekend," head coach Carla Criste said. "We had some outstanding individual performances and lifetime bests. We did not have quite enough depth to capture championship title, despite the fact that we had a historic high of eight Midshipmen who broke into our all-time top 10 performance list. Seven of those eight will be returning to the team next year so we are looking forward with great optimism."

Maddy Manhertz was the top finisher for the Midshipmen in the triple jump with a jump of 10.63 meters (34ft-10.50in).

Izzy Marini, Morgan Giraud, and Ashanti Curry finished back-to-back-to-back in the hammer throw. Marini posted a throw of 49.67m (162-11.75), while Giraud and Curry notched throws of 48.73m (159-10.75) and 48.47m (159-00.50), respectively.

In the 3,000m steeplechase, Brenna McDannold was the top performer for the Midshipmen with a time of 11:01.51, just ahead of Allison Parks (11:12.99).

The quartet of Amanda Henson, Lauren Heaton, Christina Quigley, and Aaliyah Gordon clocked a collective time of 49.35 in the 4x100m relay.

Curry was the top finisher for the Mids in the shot put. The junior recorded a throw of 13.18m (43-03.25) to finish fourth and score points in the event.

In the high jump, Julia Speranzo was the top finisher for the Mids with a jump of 1.50m (4-11.00).

Senior captain Lily Brose notched a fifth place performance in the 400m dash with a time of 56.89. The time in the 400m dash and her split in the 4x400m relay were both lifetime bests for the Mids' captain.

In the 800m run, Kara Kakascik was the top performer, notching a top 10 finish with a time of 2:14.67.

Brittany Burg was the top finisher in the 400m hurdles for Navy as the junior clocked a time of 1:01.35 to take second place and earn All-Patriot League honors.

Claire Ostrowski clocked a time of 16:57.24 in the 5,000m run to come in third place. It was a personal best for the plebe by 50 seconds and was the third fastest time in Navy history in the event.

Brose, Heaton, Quigley, and Burg combined for a time of 3:48.83 in the 4x400m relay to come in second place and earn All-Patriot League accolades.

Navy returns to action next weekend as the Midshipmen head to Princeton, N.J. for the ECAC Championships.
