PRINCETON, N.J. - The Navy women's track and field program scored 18 points to place in a tie for 18th place at the ECAC Outdoor Championship at Princeton's Weaver Stadium this weekend. Navy had the highest team finish of any Patriot League school and three Mids earned ECAC All-East honors with top-eight finishes. UConn won the women's team title with 73 team points.
Juniors Lauren Allam and Maressa Guynn each earned ECAC All-East honors in the discus. Allam was the runner-up with a mark of 157-7 (48.03m) and Guynn took fourth place with a mark of 156-7 (47.73m). Allam earns All-East honors in the discus for the second time.
"Lauren and Maressa did great in the discus," head coach Carla Criste said. "They have been on a great trajectory over the last several weeks. They have really been pushing each other in their training and it has certainly paid off."
Junior Alix Membreno earned All-East accolades in the javelin for the third time with a season-best throw of 149-9 (45.64m) to place fourth. Membreno's mark is the ninth-best in school history and it moved her to No. 36 on the NCAA's East Region performance list.
"Alix had a really great performance in the javelin," Criste said. "Maressa, Lauren and Alix should all qualify for the NCAA Regional and I could not be more proud of our throwing cadre."
Junior Teronda Brown qualified for the ECACs in a pair of events and placed 12th in the shot put (44-6¾, 13.58m) and 13th in the discus (148-1, 45.13m).
Senior Kristin Smith and junior Veronica Ffrench tied for 20th in the high jump as each cleared 5-5¼ (1.66m).
Navy placed 22nd in the prelims of the 4x100m relay with a time of 49.01.
Navy will next compete at the NCAA's East Region Championship in Greensboro, N.C. from May 23-25. The NCAA will announce the meet's accepted entries later in the week.
