Navy Discus Throwers Record Strong Outing At ECAC Championship

PRINCETON, N.J. – Senior discus throwers Lauren Allam (Pasadena, Md.), Maressa Guynn (Uniontown, Pa.) and Teronda Brown (Angleton, Texas) recorded strong performances at the ECAC Championship in Princeton, New Jersey.
“I was very impressed with all three marks from our senior discus throwers at the meet,” Navy head coach Carla Criste said. “ Time and time again, our throwers have continued to be consistent this season and the results were no different this weekend.”
Allam led all Navy discus throwers with a third-place mark of 163-6 (49.83m). Guynn and Brown finished fifth and seventh, respectively, with throws of 157-4 (47.96m) and 152-0 (46.23m). All three throwers currently rank in the top 48 in the NCAA East Region.
Brown also competed in the shot put, placing 10th with a mark of 45-5 (13.84m). Senior Veronica Ffrench (Milton, Fla.) finished tied-for 13th in the high jump, crossing over the bar at 5-6 (1.68m). Junior Christina Blair (Peninsula, Ohio) came in 13th in the 3000m steeplechase, crossing the tape at 10:54.14.
Navy will have this weekend off from competition before the NCAA East Preliminary races, which are scheduled for May 29-31 in Jacksonville, Fla. The qualifiers will be announced on Thursday, May 22.
