Day 2 Results

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Senior Maressa Guynn (Uniontown, Pa.) led the Navy women’s track and field discus throwers with mark of 158-11 (48.44m) at the NCAA East Region Preliminaries Friday in Jacksonville, Fla.

“Teronda (Brown), Maressa (Guynn) and Lauren (Allam) all have been our go-to athletes all year long with their consistent high marks,” Navy women’s track and field assistant coach Steven Sarigiannis said. “We had great practices leading up to today. We looked good, we felt good, but we did not execute well unfortunately. It was tough to swallow, especially how well these three have competed all year.”

Guynn’s finish of 33rd was 12 places better than her finish last season. Teammate Lauren Allam (Sr., Pasadena, Md.), who has now competed at the NCAA East Region Prelims in all four years at the Naval Academy, placed 40th overall with a mark of 158-11 (48.44m). Senior Teronda Brown (Angleton, Texas) finished tied-for 47th, having fouled all three throws she attempted.

All three discus throwers conclude their career as a track and field athlete with the Navy women’s track and field squad following Friday’s meet.
