ANNAPOLIS, Md. -
The Navy women's indoor track and field program (12-0) will seek an eighth-straight N-Star victory over Army on Sunday at Gillis Field House at 12 noon.
Navy leads the all-time indoor series at 13-12-1 heading into the 27th all-time meeting. Army opened the series with a 9-0-1 lead from 1987-96, but Navy has won 13 of the last 16 meets to take the series lead.
Navy defeated Army in indoor track last season at home, 112.5-68.5. The 44-point margin of victory was just one point shy of the largest ever win in the series by Navy. The Mids won 14 of 17 events in 2012 and took the maximum points in six events by going 1-2.
Including outdoor track and field, Navy has won eight straight N-Stars against Army. Head coach Carla Criste is 12-7-1 against Army in indoor track and 25-14-1 overall.
Junior Teronda Brown leads the Patriot League in the shot put (43-11½) this season and senior Kristin Smith and junior Veronica Ffrench share the league lead in the high jump (5-7). Army leads the Patriot League in six events.
Navy last competed in the Patriot Games Invitational at George Mason, where freshman Ashley Welker won the 1,000m (2:58.70) and sophomore Sarah Bernhardt won the 500m (1:18.50).
Navy will next host the Multi-Madness meet on Thursday at Wesley A. Brown Field House.
