ANNAPOLIS, Md. - The Navy women's indoor track and field team will compete at the ECAC Indoor Championship at Boston University's Track and Tennis Center from Saturday to Sunday. Live results will be available.

Navy has 10 qualified individual athletes competing in eight events and will also be bringing a 4x800m relay team to the postseason regional meet.

Navy athletes will be competing in the trials of the 800m, 1,000m and the 4x800m relay on Saturday, as well as the 5,000m run, pole vault, high jump and weight throw. The Mids will compete in the 3,000m run and shot put on Sunday, as well as the finals of the 800m, 1,000m, 4x800m, should Navy's athletes qualify.

Navy scored eight points to place in a tie for 32nd place at last year's ECAC Indoor Meet and two athletes earned All-East honors by placing in the top eight. Senior Kristin Smith earned All-East honors in the high jump by placing sixth with an indoor personal-record clear of 5-7¾ (1.72m), the second-best indoor mark in Academy history.

Amanda Phelps, a 2012 graduate, also earned All-East honors, taking fourth place in the weight throw at 58-3¾ (17.77m). Senior Brigid Byrne placed ninth in the 5,000m run, just missing All-East honors.

Byrne and sophomore Annie-Norah Beveridge have qualified for both the 3,000m and the 5,000m and are each scheduled to compete in both events this weekend. Freshman Kelley Robinson will also compete in the 3,000m run.

Robinson is one of three freshmen to qualify for the ECAC Indoor Championship in a running event. Ashley Welker will compete in the 800m and Meghan Harvey in the 1,000m.

Navy has a strong veteran presence in the field events, as five upperclassmen have qualified in the throws and jumps.

Smith has once again qualified in the high jump and will be joined by junior Veronica Ffrench in the event. Junior Teronda Brown will compete in the shot put, junior Maressa Guynn in the weight throw and senior Jordan Kronshage has qualified in the pole vault.

Navy is also sending a 4x800m relay team. Freshman Dale Lescher, freshman Amanda Mulkey, sophomore Madeline Zell and Welker posted Navy's best 4x800m time this season, a 9:15.88 at the Patriot Games.

This will be the last weekend of competition for the 2012-13 indoor season. Navy defeated Army this season, 97-84, for the eighth-straight year and placed second at the Patriot League Indoor Track and Field Championship.

Navy will open the 2013 outdoor season at William & Mary's Tribe Open on March 23 in Williamsburg, Va.
