Women's Track Hosts Its Spring Invitational Saturday

ANNAPOLIS, Md. - The Navy women's track and field program will open its 2014 outdoor season by hosting the Navy Invitational at Ingram Field on Saturday. The women's meet on Saturday will follow the men's home meet and the first women's running event of the day will be the 3,000m steeplechase at 2:00 pm. The hammer throw will be held at Hospital Point at 11:30 am and the rest of the field events will be contested at Ingram Field.
Other schools that are scheduled to join Navy on the track includes American, Delaware, Delaware State, Loyola, Maryland, Maryland-Eastern Shore. There will be team scoring.
Saturday's invite will be the final home meet for Navy's Class of 2014: Lauren Allam, Teronda Brown, Veronica Ffrench, Maressa Guynn, Mary Jordan, Alix Membreno, Kelly Maw, Samantha Newhaller, Eli Rubin and Rachel Slater. The Class of 2014 has never lost to Army in a Star Meet and won a Patriot League Outdoor team championships.
Navy will return to the track next weekend to compete in Towson Invitational and will head to West Point, N.Y. for the annual outdoor Star Meet against Army on April 5.
Navy will host the 2014 Patriot League Outdoor Championship (May 2-3), the ECAC Outdoor Championship will be in Princeton, N.J. (May 9-11) and the NCAA postseason will begin with the East Regional in Jacksonville, Fla. (May 22-24).
