ANNAPOLIS, Md. - The Navy women's outdoor track and field team will compete for the N-Star against Army on Saturday at Ingram Field. The main portion of the meet will begin at 2:15 PM with the pole vault, long jump, javelin and shot put. The first running event will be the 3,000m steeplechase at 2:45 PM. The hammer throw will be contested earlier in the day at Hospital Point at 10:50 AM.

Army and Navy will meet for the 27th time in women's outdoor track and field. The all-time outdoor Star series is even at 13-13 and Navy has won four straight. Navy earned a 116-87 win over Army at the 2012 outdoor Star Meet. The Mids won 14 of 19 events and went 1-2 in the 100m, 200m, 800m, long jump and hammer throw.

Navy has also won eight consecutive indoor Star Meets, including the 2013 meet by a score of 97-84.

Head coach Carla Criste owns a 26-14-1 record against Army in indoor and outdoor Star Meets and is 15-1 in the last 16 meets.

The Class of 2013 has won two Patriot League Championships and enters the meet with a 7-0 record against Army in Star Meets. Seniors Melanie Sluzewicz (outdoor team captain), Stephanie Payne (indoor team captain), Jacqueline Blackburn, Aimee Brenner, Brigid Byrne, Natasha Druggan, Caitlin Fine, Jordan Kronshage, Arabia Littlejohn, Jessica Ridgway, Kristin Smith and Katie Whitcombe will be competing in their final home meet at Ingram Field Saturday.



This is Navy's third week of competition during the outdoor season after taking part in the Tribe Invitational at William & Mary and at Towson last weekend.

Byrne and sophomore Annie-Norah Beveridge have each earned Patriot League Track-Athlete of the Week awards this outdoor season and Marissa Stewart was named the Patriot League Rookie of the Week. Byrne has surpassed the ECAC-qualification standard in the 5,000m (17:04.21) and Beveridge has done the same in the 10,000m (37:01.55).

Navy will next compete at the George Mason Invitational on April 13.

Parking Information/Shuttles
All fans without a Department of Defense sticker on their vehicle must park outside of the U.S. Naval Academy grounds. Fans may park at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium for $5. Free shuttle buses will run every 10 minutes between Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium and Ingram Field. The shuttle buses will start running at 9:30 am on Saturday and will continue to 6:30 pm.
