Women's Track Prepares for Star Meet Against Army

ANNAPOLIS, Md. - The Navy women's outdoor track and field team (6-0) will compete for the N-Star against Army on Saturday at Shea Stadium in West Point, N.Y. The meet will begin with the hammer throw at 10 a.m. The first running event will be the 3,000m steeplechase at 12 p.m.
Army and Navy will meet for the 28th time in women's outdoor track and field. Navy leads the all-time outdoor Star series, 14-13 and Navy has won five straight. Navy earned a 107-96 win over Army at the 2013 outdoor Star Meet. The Mids won 11 of 19 events and went 1-2 in the 1500m, 5000m and high jump.
Head coach Carla Criste owns a 28-14-1 record against Army in indoor and outdoor Star Meets and is 16-1 in the last 17 meets.
This is Navy's third week of competition during the outdoor season after hosting the Navy Spring Invitational and competing at Towson last weekend.
Navy’s throwers have started the 2014 outdoor season with strong performances in back-to-back meets. Seniors Maressa Guynn, Teronda Brown and Lauren Allam have all recorded ECAC-qualifying marks in the discus. Senior Alix Membreno has also tallied an ECAC-qualifying performance in the javelin at the Navy Spring Invitational.
Navy will next compete at the George Mason Invitational on April 12.
