CENTER VALLEY, Pa. - After breaking a pair of school records last week, junior Teronda Brown (Angleton, Texas) and senior Brigid Byrne (Vienna, Va.) have each been honored by the Patriot League. Brown has been named the M-F Athletic Patriot League Field-Athlete of the Week and Byrne is the track-athlete of the week.

Brown broke Navy's outdoor shot put school record at the McDaniel Twilight Invitational last Wednesday. Brown posted a personal-best and ECAC-qualifying mark of 47-5¾ (14.47m) to win the event.

Brown broke the previous school record of 46-11 (14.30m), which was held by Jen Leatherman (2004). Brown was also the runner-up in the hammer and the discus at McDaniel.

The junior is ranked first in the Patriot League in the shot put and No. 51 in the NCAA's East Region. Brown wins her third career weekly conference honor.

Byrne broke Navy's 10,000m run record at the Mt. SAC Relays in Walnut, Calif. late Thursday evening.

Byrne clocked an ECAC-qualifying and personal-best time of 34:51.23 to place sixth in the Olympic Development Elite section of the 10K.

Byrne is ranked No. 1 in the Patriot League in the 10K and sits in 26th-place on the NCAA's East Region performance list.

The senior broke Melissa Foon's previous school record of 35:08.27, which she set in 2001. Byrne earns her fifth track weekly award from the conference in her career and her third of the season.

The Navy women's track and field program will compete at the Penn Relays this Thursday.
