CENTER VALLEY, Pa. - Sophomore Lauren Allam (Pasadena, Md.) was named the Patriot League Women's Field-Athlete of the Week after several impressive performances at two different meets last week, the league office announced Monday.

Allam won the discus at Princeton's Larry Ellis Invitational with a mark of 157-3 (47.93m), the second-best mark in school history behind only her own school record. Allam battled Jessica Waggoner of Army, overcoming her service academy foe by just one inch on her second-to-last attempt.

Allam also won the discus at the McDaniel Twilight Meet earlier in the week with a distance of 143-9 (43.83m). Both marks were over the ECAC-qualifying standard.

Allam's top discus mark of 157-3 is ranked No. 1 in the Patriot League and is 38th in the NCAA's East Region. She has won the event in all five of her meets this season.

The Chesapeake High graduate also posted three other top-five finishes at McDaniel. Allam placed second in the shot put (41-6), fourth in the hammer (128-10) and fourth in the javelin (101-8).

The discus champion at the 2011 Patriot League Outdoor league meet, Allam will be seeking to repeat this May at Holy Cross. Allam will also be looking to make a return trip to the NCAA's East Regional after placing 37th last spring.

This is Allam's sixth career weekly award from the Patriot League and her first of the 2012 outdoor season.

The Navy women's track and field team will compete at the Penn Relays on Thursday.
