Navy Women's Track & Field Competes At Penn Relays
Links associated with this release: ANNAPOLIS, Md. - The Navy women's track & field team (9-2) took part in the prestigious Penn Relays Thursday. Melissa Foon (Sr./Lexington, Ky.) continued her outstanding 2001 campaign finishing seventh and setting a school record in the 5000m run. Foon's time of 16:29.77 shattered the previous mark of 17:03.13 she set last season. Amy Baxter (Sr./Cheshire, Conn.) had a strong showing once again in her new event, the 3000m steeplechase. Baxter, who has already provisionally qualified for the NCAA Championships in the event, won her heat with a time of 10:44.63. The distance medley relay team of Lisa Procaccini (So./Vienna, Va.), Ashley Augostini (Sr./Richmond, Va.), Jessica Crocker (Jr./White Lake, Mich.) and Sara Waters (Fr./Aurora, Colo.) took ninth with a time of 12:05.83. Navy will be back in action next weekend when the Midshipmen compete in the Heptagonal Championship May 5-6.
