ANNAPOLIS, Md. - The Navy women's outdoor track and field program will defend its league crown at the 2013 Patriot League Outdoor Championship this weekend at Lehigh's Goodman Campus. The eight-team conference meet will feature 22 events beginning on Friday morning and ending late Saturday afternoon.

Junior Veronica Ffrench won the high jump at the outdoor league meet last year and the 4x400m relay team of Sarah Bernhard, Colleen McFadden, Mansfield Murph and Natasha Druggan also took first place.

The Mids had eight second-place finishes and runners-up returning to competition at the 2013 meet are senior Jessica Ridgway (100m), senior Kristin Smith (high jump), junior Lauren Allam (discus) and junior Alix Membreno (javelin).

Navy placed second at the 2013 Patriot League Indoor Championship at West Point in February. Smith won the high jump, senior Brigid Byrne was second in the 5K, sophomore Annie-Norah Beveridge was second in the 3K, Druggan was second in the 500m and Ffrench was the runner-up in the high jump.

Heading into the conference meet, Navy has four athletes leading their events on the Patriot League performance lists and also has athletes ranked second in four events.
