Amy Baxter Wins The 3,000 Meter Steeplechase At The ECAC Championship

PRINCETON, N.J. - Navy senior Amy Baxter finished first out of 23 runners in the 3,000-meter steeplechase at the ECAC Championship in Princeton, N.J. Baxter won the race in a time of 10:24.01, which provisionally qualified her for the NCAA Championship.

"I am thrilled for Amy that she was able to win," said Navy Women's Track Coach Carla Criste. "This is such a great accomplishment and something that she will never forget."

The Navy men picked up four points on the first day of competition thanks to a sixth place finish by Jonathan Hayes in the 3,000-meter steeplechase. Hayes' time of 8:52.21 provisionally qualified him for the NCAA Championship.

Navy's only other competitor on day one was Nathaniel Michael, who finished ninth in the discus with a throw of 155' 08.00".
