Center Valley, Pa. - The Navy women's track and field program had 22 student-athletes qualify for the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll, the league office announced on Thursday. Five of the 22 student-athletes on the honor roll earned a perfect 4.00 GPA during the spring semester.

The Patriot League Track and Field Academic Honor Roll includes both the indoor and outdoor seasons. Navy won the Patriot League Indoor title and placed second at the outdoor league meet.

Rising junior Brigid Byrne (English), Caitlin Fine (oceanography honors), Rachel Minker (oceanography honors), Erin Neumann (ocean engineering) and Katie Whitcombe (Chinese) all earned a perfect 4.00 GPA for the spring semester.

Byrne was selected to the Patriot League All-Academic team for both indoor and outdoor track and field, as well as for the 2010 cross country season. Byrne earned All-Patriot League Second Team honors after her runner-up finish in the 10,000m run at the outdoor league championship.

Rising senior Amanda Phelps earned a spot on the honor roll after posting a 3.33 GPA in oceanography. Phelps was the Patriot League Field-Athlete of the Meet at the outdoor championship, winning both the hammer throw and shot put. Phelps also won the weight throw at the indoor league meet.

To be eligible for the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll, a student-athlete must be a member of the women's track and field team and earn at least a 3.20 GPA during the spring semester.
