CENTER VALLEY, Pa. -
Sophomore Annie-Norah Beveridge
and junior Veronica Ffrench
earned Patriot League women's track and field athlete of the week honors for the first time in their careers, the league office announced Monday.
Beveridge was tabbed as the Patriot League M-F Athletic Track Athlete of the Week, while Ffrench was named the M-F Athletic Field Athlete of the Week.
Beveridge and Ffrench helped Navy post seven double dual wins at the season-opening Navy Invitational last Thursday at the Wesley A. Brown Field House.
Beveridge, whose last competition was the 2012 NCAA Cross Country Championship, easily won the 5,000m run with an ECAC-qualifying time of 17:05.73. She won the race by 55 seconds with her new personal record time and nearly broke the facility record.
Beveridge earned a Patriot League record five weekly awards during the cross country season, but this is her first weekly award for indoor or outdoor track and field. Beveridge was the medalist at the 2012 Patriot League Cross Country Championship.
Ffrench won the high jump with an ECAC-qualifying clear of 5-7 (1.70m), matching her personal best. Senior Kristin Smith also cleared 5-7, but Ffrench earned first place due to the tiebreak.
Ffrench also competed in four other events at the Navy Invitational, taking sixth place in the 60m dash (7.99), eighth in the 4x400m (4:11.01), 12th in the 200m dash (26.49) and 16th in the long jump (16-1, 4.90m).
The Mids will have over a month off before returning to action on January 12th for the Navy Invitational.
