Five Mids Named to Patriot League Academic Honor Roll for Volleyball

ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- Five members of the Navy volleyball team were among the 47 student-athletes named Tuesday to the 2010 Patriot League Academic Honor Roll for the sport.

Student-athletes must have attained a minimum grade-point average of 3.20 during the 2010 fall semester to earn the accolade.

Lauren Carpenter (Jr., Murphy, Texas) and Kelsey Owen (So., Canfield, Ohio) both earned their way onto the Honor Roll for the second consecutive year. Carpenter, who is majoring in history, posted a 3.35 GPA last semester, while Owen, an English major, compiled a 3.26 GPA over the course of the term.

Garnering the laurel for the first time in their respective careers were Amanda Hine (Jr., Elkton, Va.), Sara Baugh (Fr., Terre Haute, Ind.) and Erin Fortner (Fr., Villa Hills, Ky.). Hine attained a 3.22 GPA as an oceanography major, Baugh posted a 3.50 GPA and Fortner's 3.56 GPA was the highest on the team for the grading period. Both Baugh and Fortner will select their majors later this semester.
