CENTER VALLEY, Pa. - Navy's Rachel Dougherty (Sr., Derwood, Md.) was tabbed as the Patriot League's Volleyball Player of the week Monday after leading the team in both kills and digs on the week.

Dougherty began her week by tallying 11 kills in Navy's three-game loss at Loyola, then proceeded to total 16 kills in a sweep of Bucknell and 22 kills in a five-game setback to Colgate. The 16 kills tied her career high for the most in a three-game match, while the 22 kills was one shy of tying her career-best effort for the most kills in any length of match.

Additionally, Dougherty tied for the Navy lead in digs with seven against the Bison and recorded her second double-double of the season with a team-high 15 digs against the Raiders.

She averaged 4.45 kills and 2.36 digs per game and hit .282 over Navy's three matches on the week, while she increased her averages to 4.75 kills and 2.75 digs per game and her attack percentage to .298 in Navy's two league contests.

This is the first weekly award won by a Navy player this season and is the second of Dougherty's career. She previously earned the accolade Nov. 14, 2005.

Navy will play Tuesday night at Hampton before returning to Annapolis and playing host to league foes Lehigh Friday night (7 p.m.) and Lafayette Saturday evening (5 p.m.).
