Women's Cross Country Finishes Third in Patriot League Championship

EASTON, Pa. – The Navy’s women’s cross country squad placed third at the Patriot League Championship on Saturday in Easton, Pa. The Mids will look forward to the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional meet on Friday, Nov. 15 in Bethlehem, Pa.
“We did not run at our fullest potential today,” said head coach Karen Boyle. “We were hoping for a stronger effort, but came up short of our goals. We will look to get better these next two weeks before we head to the NCAAs.”
Kelley Robinson was Navy’s top runner in the League championship, finishing fifth overall with a time of 22:21.86. Annie-Norah Beveridge (22:26.61) crossed the tap five seconds later to grab seventh place. Teammates Christina Blair (22:49.91), Emily Jensen (22:57.87) and Nikki Funkhauser (23:11.81) rounded out the Mids five scorers with 18th, 21st and 30th-place finishes, respectively.
Navy totaled 87 points and two top-10 finishers for a third-place finish. Conference newcomer Boston University placed first with 47 points and three top-10 finishers, including the Patriot League Runner of the Year, Rosa Moriello (21:09.93). Lehigh was right behind Boston U., finishing with 57 points and four top-10 finishers. Bucknell (106) and Army (140) rounded out the top-five, respectively. Following the first five, American (160), Holy Cross (182), Lafayette (183), Loyola (Md.) (211) and Colgate (294) completed the field of 10.
