LOCK HAVEN, Pa. - Navy women's cross country senior runner Justine Whipple (Duxbury, Mass.) led the team with a 21st-place finish as the Midshipmen concluded their season with an 11th-place showing among 32 schools at the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Region Championship at Lock Haven's West Branch Cross Country Course on Saturday.

No. 20 Princeton claimed the team title with a 56-point score, while No. 15 Georgetown came in second with its 77-point showing. Both teams earned an automatic bid to the NCAA Championship on Nov. 20, in Terre Haute, Ind.

Whipple, a two-time First-Team All-Patriot League runner, crossed the finish line in a season-best time of 21:13.7. The senior has led all Navy runners in each of her last-12 meets, dating back to the start of the 2005 season. She cracked the 22-minute mark for the third time this year on Saturday and finished only 1:10.8 behind individual champion Frances Koons' time from Villanova.

Once again following Whipple with the team's second-best time was senior Emily Castro (Centennial, Colo.), who placed 44th with a time of 21:57.0. Castro, a three-time First-Team All-Patriot League runner, finished among Navy's top-two runners in each of her seven races this year.

Senior Allison Barlow (Orange Park, Fla.) registered the team's third-fastest time, 66th overall, with a time of 22:15.2. Junior Kyleigh Millhouse (Boiling Springs, Pa.) landed 101st with a 22:50.5 clocking, while senior Juliann Jordan (Kanehoe, Hawai'i) rounded out the scoring-five with a time of 22:52.7 in 102nd place.

Sophomore Maureen Dooley (Durham, Conn.) came in 116th place with her 23:12.8 time and senior Susan Richardson (Louisville, Colo.) completed Navy's displacing scorers with a 142nd-place time of 23:38.0.

Navy finished its 2006 season with a 5-0 dual-meet record, N-Star victory over Army and a second-place finish at the Patriot League Championship.
