Women's Cross Country Places 10th at Mid-Atlantic Regionals

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – At Friday’s NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional Championship, the Navy women’s cross country team finished 10th overall with a 369-point team total.
"I thought we ran well today as a group," said head coach Karen Boyle. "We still have room to get better as a squad and am excited for this group in the coming years."
Navy's junior Annie-Norah Beveridge (Ann Arbor, Mich.) led the Mids at the 6k course at Lehigh University with a 52nd-place finish of 21:28. Sophomore Kelley Robinson (Nederland, Colo.) and junior Christina Blair (Peninsula, Ohio) came in less than 20 seconds behind Beveridge with times of 21:38 and 21:46, good for 65th and 72nd place, respectively
13 seconds back, Mids junior Emily Jenson (The Woodlands, Texas) took 87th with a 21:59 result, while junior Nikki Funkhauser (Littleton, Colo.) finished in 93rd at 22:05. The final two scoring Mids in this seven-scoring starter race were junior Paige Miller (Maineville, Ohio) and freshman Brenna McDannold (Overland Park, Kan.), who finished back-to-back at 22:47 and 22:50, 126th and 127th overall.
As a team, Navy was the second-highest finishing Patriot League squad as Lehigh edged out the Mids with a ninth-place result and 277 team points.
Villanova was the overall regional champion with 31 team points. Led by the top two individual finishers, Emily Lipari (19:53) and Nicky Akande (19:53), the Wildcats held off Georgetown, who finished second with 35 points.
Friday’s result concludes Navy’s 2013 season.
