Women's Cross Country Finishes Season at the ECAC Championship
Junior Brigid Byrne placed 16th on Satur

BRONX, N.Y. - The Navy women's cross country team closed out the 2011 season on Saturday with a seventh-place finish at the ECAC Championship held at New York's historic Van Cortland Park. Three freshmen placed in the Mids' top five as Navy totaled 166 points. Iona won the race with 56 points.
Saturday's race featured several of the top-15 teams from both the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast regions, including second-place LaSalle, third-place Syracuse, fourth-place James Madison, fifth-place Duquesne and sixth-place Princeton.
Leading Navy on Saturday were junior Brigid Byrne and freshman Annie-Norah Beveridge, who placed 16th and 17th, respectively. Byrne clocked a time of 18:15, while Beveridge was a step behind at 18:16.
Junior Aimee Brenner capped Navy's scoring five as she placed 64th with a time of 19:33.
Navy's Jess Palacio did not compete in Saturday's race, as she will run in the NCAA Championship on Monday in Terre Haute, Ind.
Saturday's ECAC Championship marked the first time since the 2008 Fordham Invitational that Navy competed at Van Cortland Park.
