ANNAPOLIS, Md. - The Navy women's cross country team was one of 192 Division I programs to garner USTFCCCA All-Academic Cross Country Team accolades, it was announced Wednesday by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).
As a team, the Midshipmen compiled a cumulative GPA of 3.14 as they earned the award for the first time since the 2007 season. Navy joined Army, Bucknell, Colgate and Lafayette as the other Patriot League institutions on this year's list.
Earlier this year, the Mids placed a program-best 14 student-athletes on the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll.
The Mids ended competition this past fall with a 10th-place finish at the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional Championships, where Jess Palacio led the team's effort with a 21st-place finish, garnering All-Region accolades.
To qualify as a USTFCCCA All-Academic Cross Country Team, the team must have had a cumulative team GPA of 3.00 or better and have started at least five runners at their respective NCAA regional championship.
