CENTER VALLEY, Pa. – The first week of the 2013 season is in the books and the Navy women’s cross country swept the first weekly Patriot League Conference honors, which was announced on Tuesday by the conference office. Junior Annie-Norah Beveridge (Ann Arbor, Mich.) and freshman Mary Cate Scully (Fairfax Station, Va.) took home M-F Athletic Female Runner of the Week and Rookie of the Week honors, respectively.
Beveridge picked up where she left off last season, as the Patriot League individual champion and participant in the NCAA Championship clocked a time of 18:21.85 to take first place in the Mount St. Mary’s 5K Duals on Friday. She also led Navy to the team title in a field that included Delaware and Maryland. Beveridge has placed first for Navy in seven consecutive meets dating back to Sept. 12, 2012 at the Salty Dog Invitational. She is named Patriot League M-F Athletic Female Runner of the Week for the sixth time, matching American’s Keira Carlstrom (2002-05) for the most in League history.
Scully helped Navy to the team title at the Mount St. Mary’s 5K Duals by coming in ninth place with a time of 19:00.08. Scully was the fourth finisher for the Mids as she placed in the top 10 in her first collegiate meet.
The Midshipmen are off this weekend but will return to host the Salty Dog Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 14.
