Mids Head to Dartmouth Invitational on Saturday

ANNAPOLIS, Md. - The Navy women's cross country team will head on the road to partake in the Dartmouth Invitational at the Hanover Country Club in Hanover, N.H., this Saturday at 11:10 a.m. The Midshipmen will be making their first visit to Dartmouth's home 5k course in the program's 25-year history. Last Friday, Navy finished third out of 11 teams at Appalachian State's Covered Bridge Open, a 5k race held at an elevation of 3,300 feet above sea level. Navy's 95 points were only bested by 15th-ranked Georgia's 27 points and 21st-ranked Florida State's 35 points. The Midshipmen landed their top-seven runners among the top 30 and boasted a miniscule 12-second spread between their first and fifth-fastest times. Erica Ziel (So./Saginaw, Mich.) led the way for the Mids, crossing the finish line in 19:22.45 for 20th place. Maureen Dooley (Jr./Durham, Conn.) finished 22nd with a time of 19:26.10 and Katie Rentz (Fr./San Diego, Calif.) produced 19:29.53 showing for 23rd place. Arwyn Becker (Sr./Avon, Colo.) immediately followed in 24th place with a 19:30.65 clocking and team captain Kyleigh Millhouse (Sr./Boiling Springs, Pa.) rounded out the scoring five with a time of 19:34.15 for 27th place. Following this Saturday's meet, Navy will return to Annapolis to host its only home race of the year on Saturday, Sept. 15. The action for the Salty Seadog Invitational on the USNA Cross Country Course is slated for an 11:30 a.m. start.
