Navy Women's Cross Country to Race at Paul Short Invitational Saturday
Links associated with this release: The Navy women’s cross country team (6-0), fresh off an 11th-place showing at the Sept. 29 Iona Meet of Champions, will run at Lehigh’s Aardvark-Mizuno-Paul Short Invitational in Bethlehem, Pa., Saturday at 11 a.m. Last week in New York City, the Mids (312 points) were just one point shy of finishing in the top 10 at the Iona Meet of Champions. Team captain Melanie Stock (Sr./Mechanicsburg, Pa.) turned in her second-straight team-best performance, crossing the finish line in 44th place with a time of 22:06.1. Both Abby Wilder (So./Lake Geneva, Wis.) (66th-place/22:33.9) and Sara Waters (So./Aurora, Colo.) (90th/22:52.9) continued their season-long streaks of finishing among Navy’s top five. The Midshipmen have made seven previous appearances in the Paul Short Invitational, with their most recent outing coming in the 1999 season. The Mids took home a fourth-place finish in the 32-team race –– the team’s best showing in history at the meet. Navy is ranked eighth in the Sept. 25 edition of the NCAA Division I Mid-Atlantic Region Women’s Cross Country Poll.
