Women's Cross Country Travels to Ames, Iowa for the Pre-National Invitational

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (Oct. 12) -- The Navy women's cross country team heads to Ames, Iowa this weekend to compete at the Pre-National Invitational Saturday at 11:30 am.

The Midshipmen are coming off a strong showing at the National Invitational/Penn State Open last weekend. Senior Melissa Foon (Lexington, Ky.) took first place with a time of 21:23.37. Senior Amy Baxter (Cheshire, Conn.) has a solid showing, taking fifth place with a time of 21:57.61.

The 2000 NCAA Championship will be held in Ames on November 20. The Mids will be competing on a 6000-meter course. The Mids will face top competition as they will face 16 of the top-25 teams in the nation.
