Mids Wrap Up Season With Star Meet

Freshman Bethany Kauffman will compete in her first Star Meet this Friday.

Annapolis, Md. -- Navy women's cross country (3-1) will close out the 2003 regular season on Friday, Oct. 17 in West Point, N.Y. as the Mids challenge the Black Knights in the Star Meet. The Navy men's team will also conclude their season at Army. The men are set to run at 4 p.m. and the women will start at 4:45 p.m.

Navy, led by freshmen Emily Castro (Centennial, Colo./Cherry Creek) and Erin Demchko (Nanuet, N.Y./Pearl River), has not competed for two weeks, but the Mids are rested and ready to compete. In their last outing, the Mids finished 10th at the Paul Short Invitational, two spots ahead of Army.

In 2002, the Black Knights took a 26-29 victory in Annapolis, but Navy still leads the all-time series against Army, with an 11-6 edge.

After Navy closes out the regular season against Army this weekend, the Mids will prepare for the Patriot League Championship on Saturday, Nov. 1, in Easton, Pa. and the Mid-Atlantic NCAA Regional on Saturday, Nov. 15 in Lock Haven, Pa.
